Platte Berlin is a contemporary cultural space combining café, exhibitions, events and community programming in the heart of Berlin. As a physical destination rooted in culture and social connection, Platte required a digital presence that could reflect its personality, communicate its programme clearly, and support a growing audience of locals and visitors.
SOHO partnered with Platte Berlin to create a digital experience that captures the spirit of the space — expressive, accessible and human — while providing a clear and functional platform for programme discovery and engagement.
Platte Berlin operates at the intersection of culture, hospitality and community. Its digital presence needed to support this hybridity without becoming cluttered or confusing.
Key challenges included:
The existing site did not fully capture the character of Platte or support intuitive exploration of its programme.
Brand Expression in Digital
We focused on translating Platte’s visual and cultural identity into a digital system that feels confident and expressive without overwhelming content. Typography, layout and motion are used to mirror the atmosphere of the space itself - informal, contemporary and welcoming.
UX & Content Architecture
A clear content structure was developed to support fast-changing programming. Events, exhibitions and editorial content are prioritised, allowing visitors to quickly understand what’s happening now, what’s coming next, and how to engage.
Navigation was intentionally simple, reducing friction and encouraging exploration.
Design System
The visual language is bold yet restrained, giving prominence to imagery and content while maintaining consistency across pages. The system is flexible enough to accommodate varied event formats and collaborations without losing coherence.
Development
SOHO delivered a lightweight, high-performance build that ensures fast load times and smooth interactions across devices. A simple CMS enables the Platte team to update content regularly without technical dependency.
