The SOHO Gallery — Creating a Digital Platform for Contemporary Art & Collectors

Overview

The SOHO Gallery is a contemporary art platform dedicated to showcasing emerging and established artists through curated exhibitions and collectible works. As the gallery expanded its physical and online presence, it required a refined digital platform capable of supporting discovery, storytelling and art sales within a single cohesive experience.

We partnered with The SOHO Gallery to create a digital environment that reflects the sophistication of the curatorial vision while delivering a seamless and commercially effective experience for collectors and art audiences.

The Challenge

The gallery operates at the intersection of culture and commerce. Its digital presence needed to balance artistic integrity with transactional clarity — enabling visitors to explore exhibitions while also supporting acquisition enquiries and sales.

Our Approach

Digital Strategy

We defined a strategy centred on clarity, confidence and collectability. The platform was designed to serve both art discovery and commercial enquiry — ensuring the gallery could grow its collector base while maintaining curatorial authority.

UX & Information Architecture

We developed a streamlined structure that prioritises:

  • Current and upcoming exhibitions
  • Artist profiles and portfolios
  • Individual artwork pages with detailed information
  • Clear enquiry and purchasing pathways

Navigation was simplified to encourage exploration while reducing friction for collectors ready to engage.

Design

The visual system is minimal and refined, allowing artwork to take precedence. Generous white space, elegant typography and subtle transitions create a calm, gallery-like digital atmosphere.

The design reinforces credibility and trust — essential for cultural commerce.

Development & E-commerce

SOHO delivered a high-performance, scalable build on Shopify with integrated enquiry and sales functionality. The CMS enables the gallery team to update exhibitions, artists and inventory quickly, supporting a dynamic programme throughout the year.
